The Public Transport Council (PTC) and South West Community Development Council (CDC) launched the inaugural CARE Ride @ South West on Friday, 7 December 2018.

The Public Transport Council (PTC) has concluded the 2018 Fare Review Exercise (FRE). Its decision involved a delicate balance between fare affordability and rising operating and maintenance costs of public transport operators. In addition, targeted financial assistance will be provided to eligible low income families.

Following the success of the first Heart Zone at Outram Park MRT Station, the Public Transport Council (PTC) together with the Land Transport Authority (LTA), SMRT Trains, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), will launch similar Heart Zones at Jurong East and Novena MRT Stations. This is in line with the recommendations from PTC’s Second Advisory Report released early this year, and is an affirmation of Singapore’s caring commuting culture.

The Family-Friendly Transport Advisory Panel presented its recommendations for a more accessible, family-friendly and inclusive transport system to Senior Minister of State for Transport Dr Lam Pin Min today. The Panel was commissioned by the Government in June 2017 to consult relevant stakeholders on how Singapore’s land transport system can be made more family-friendly.

The Public Transport Council (PTC), an independent body that regulates public transport fares, is making enhancements to transfer rules to provide more flexibility to commuters. In addition, PTC is revising the fare formula to ensure that fares keep pace with changes in the public transport industry’s cost structure. This formula forms the basis for the PTC’s deliberation at each year’s fare review exercise, where the PTC grants fare adjustments. The fare formula review is typically done once every five years, and the 2017/2018 review was completed after a year-long consultation with commuters, operators and industry experts.
